The Shadow of Caregiving For the past two years, Mrs. Wong has been the primary caregiver for her husband, who lives with dementia. What started as “forgetfulness” turned into a 24-hour responsibility. She felt a growing sense of anxiety and even resentment—emotions she felt guilty for having. She was drowning in the “hidden struggle” that so many caregivers face in silence, feeling spiritually depleted and distant from the peace she once knew.
Finding the “Living Water” through Spiritual Care Through the outreach of a local church, Mrs. Wong found our Caregiving Companions program. Here, professional counselling met compassionate spiritual care. She learned that her feelings were valid in the eyes of God and found a “breathing space” to process her grief through prayer and fellowship. In our support group, she met others walking the same path, realizing she was no longer alone—she was part of a body of believers committed to carrying one another’s burdens.
Today, Mrs. Wong can breathe again. She isn’t just surviving; she is being restored. With her faith renewed and practical coping strategies in hand, she is learning to care for herself so she can continue to care for her husband with Christ-like love rather than just weary duty.
